Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Selling Gold
1. How much money will I get if I sell my gold?
The amount depends on your jewellery’s net gold weight, verified purity and the applicable Krish Fincorp offer rate on the day of valuation.
Stones, beads, lac, enamel and other non-gold components are excluded when calculating the recoverable gold content. The final amount is confirmed only after physical testing and valuation.
2. How is the value of old gold calculated?
The indicative value is calculated using:
Net gold weight × Verified purity × Applicable 24K offer rate
For example, 10 grams of net gold at 91.6% purity contains approximately 9.16 grams of fine gold. The applicable offer rate is then applied to this recoverable fine-gold weight.
All measurements and deductions will be explained before you decide.
3. What documents are required to sell gold?
Customers generally need to provide:
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Address proof
- PAN card, where applicable
- Bank account details
- Purchase bill, if available
- Ownership or authorization proof, if required
For pledged jewellery, bring the original pledge receipt and latest outstanding statement.
Document requirements may vary depending on the ownership, value and type of transaction.
4. Can I sell gold without a purchase bill or hallmark?
A purchase bill can help establish ownership, but it may not always be mandatory. You must still complete the required identity, ownership and KYC verification.
Eligible non-hallmarked jewellery may also be assessed. The final value will be based on its tested purity and recoverable gold content rather than the presence of a hallmark alone.
5. Can I sell broken, damaged or old gold jewellery?
Yes. Old, broken, bent, damaged or unused gold jewellery can still have substantial value.
The physical condition or design does not usually determine the gold value. The offer is primarily based on verified purity, net recoverable weight and the applicable rate.
Eligible items may include broken chains, single earrings, damaged bangles, old rings, coins and other gold articles.
6. Will my jewellery be damaged during purity testing?
Non-destructive testing is preferred during the initial assessment whenever appropriate.
If advanced testing, melting or refining is necessary to determine the final recoverable purity, the procedure must be explained clearly and completed only after receiving your consent.
No irreversible process should take place without your approval.
7. Can Krish Fincorp help release gold pledged with a bank or gold-loan company?
Yes. Krish Fincorp can review eligible jewellery pledged with banks, NBFCs, pawn brokers and other verified pledge holders.
Provide the pledge receipt, latest outstanding amount and required identity documents. Depending on the lender’s procedure, our representative can assist or accompany you during the approved settlement and recovery process.
After the jewellery is recovered, it is tested and valued. The pledge amount is adjusted against the accepted gold value, and the eligible remaining balance is settled with you.
8. Can I sell my gold from home, and how quickly will I receive payment?
Yes. Krish Fincorp provides doorstep gold-valuation service in eligible Chennai areas, subject to appointment availability and serviceability.
We confirm the assigned executive’s details before the visit. After assessment, document verification and acceptance of the final offer, payment is initiated through the available compliant settlement method.
The time required may vary depending on the number of items, testing requirements, documentation and banking processing time.
